Drying oranges is so easy and also makes your house smell amazing too. Guaranteed to put you in the festive spirit!
Look out for bargain oranges, reduced ones at the end of the day are perfect.
Slice the oranges into pieces about 1 cm thick. Pat dry and then pop onto a baking rack onto a tray on a low heat of 100 oC for 3 hours.
Turn every 30 minutes or so.
You can tie these up with ribbon for your tree, pile them in a bowl with pine cones and cinnamon for a lovely festive smelling pot pourri or make a gorgeous garland
If you want to use whole oranges they need to be slit and then put in the oven on an extremely low temperture for 12-24 hours.
I'll be using these oranges in the next couple of days so watch out for garland making.
Happy 3rd December
